Fresh Truffles from Urbani Truffles
There is nothing quite like the taste of a fresh truffle. It's impossible to describe because it truly is a unique flavor and scent, but they have a deep earthiness to them that adds a new dimension to dishes. Impossible to farm, most of our truffles come from Italy where truffle hunters use pigs and occasionally dogs to sniff out its unique aroma. The time and expertise required to find just one truffle is the reason for the high price.
Truffles come in a number of varieties and certain varieties are only available during certain seasons. In winter, the most expensive "white truffle" is in season. The somewhat more affordable "black winter truffles" also come into season around this time.
In addition to fresh truffles, Urbani carries a number of truffle products including truffle oils (made from real truffles) and truffle butters that make good stocking stuffers.
